Life continued

Father had friends from all walks of life. In friendship, what mattered to him most was trust. He would go out of his way to help those whom he trusted. He was honest and expected the same from others. Father was very outspoken and passionate about his beliefs. He had a great sense of humor and there was always plenty of laughter in the house while we were growing up. He loved children and took great pleasure in playing and chatting with them. Late in life, he was especially fond of his eldest grandson Caleb. Even through illness, he took great interest in Caleb's daily activities. Thanks to Skype video, Caleb was able to speak to and see him weekly. Caleb loved his grandfather very much. Father strived for perfection in every endeavor, and encouraged us to continually improve and reach for the stars. His quest for knowledge never wavered. He was always reading and found pleasure in learning new things. He had a sharp mind and frequently thought of new methods or ways to improve things. He had a remarkable ability to think outside the box when necessary, which contributed to his success in treating his patients. I remember a couple of times when his methods of medical treatment were superior to current pediatric practices. It actually worked for my son. I was very grateful for his knowledge. Father's interest spanned a wide range of topics, from science, technology and medicine, to art, nature, and current affairs. There were so many different kinds of magazines in the house while we were growing up. Father once said "You are what you know". I now understand what he meant by that statement.
